Alleyways in the city East and West
This fascinating route will discover the secret alleyways which still form such a large part of the city of London today. Many of these well trodden ancient pathways predate the Great Fire of London of 1666 so we will walk the mediaeval footprint of the City. On our way we will discover houses, churches and institutions dating from the turbulent aftermath of the Great Fire and we will look at the work of some of the visionaries responsible for rebuilding the city.
